I was born and raised in Halifax County and have called Littleton and the surrounding area home for a substantial time and I know the importance of preserving its history and heritage. Lakeland Cultural Arts Center, the old Littleton High School, was part of my life for 12 years.
The school's history dates back to 1907 when the NC Senate authorized the establishment of a graded school in Littleton. This one room school evolved into Littleton High School in 1922 when the present structure was built. It was listed as a Group2, Class A school. This structure and its history still stands and now serves the people of Littleton and the surrounding areas as Lakeland Cultural Arts Center. Lakeland has drawn and continues to draw talent from near and far and never fails to bring new and exciting experiences to everyone. I am excited to see what the future holds for LCAC and Littleton.
